Do you want to be wearing this season's trends whilst staying stylish and not be a fashion victim?

The only way to achieve this is to be conscious of your body shape and dress accordingly. So here are a few guidelines on how to wear some of this season's trends.

COLOUR - Wearing the right colour can takes years off. So what do you do when this season's colours aren't right for you? Well no  need to worry this Spring and Summer as there is a shade in the trend for everyone:-

* All shades of green - these range from lime green to chartreuse. Lime green compliments women with colouring that is light, warm and bright (think Cameron Diaz) and chartreuse compliments deep, warm and muted colouring (think Jennifer Lopez).

*All blues worn together - these are more of a cool colour. Light shades of blues are best for light cool complexions such as Sienna Miller and deeper shades for deep cool complexions such as Oprah Winfrey.

*Neon Brights - these only look good on women with bright colouring. Hot pinks look good on women with a bright deep cool colouring (think Liz hurley and again Oprah Winfrey) whilst corals and limes look good with bright light warm colouring (think Kate Winslet and again Cameron Diaz).

*Nudes - these suite women who have a more muted look i.e. their hair, eyes and skin tone are similar (think Twiggy)

FABRICS/DESIGNS & PATTERNS - consider your body shape and proportions when choosing fabrics, designs and patterns.

* Fabric trend is sheer fabrics layered, metallics, and crumpled fabrics . If you have a curvy figure wear sheer fabrics soft layers, for a straighter boyish figure wear tauter fabrics. In metallics, a soft fabric which drapes will suit a curvy fabric, a taut fabric such as leather or gabardine (for a gold trench coat) will suit the straighter body. Remember for metallic colours, cool complexions should opt for silver whilst warm complexions should opt for gold, bronze and copper. bright metallics are for bright colouring and dull for the muted colouring. Crumpled fabrics tend to be taut so will look good on the straighter boyish figure.

*Pattern trend is florals (mixing different floral patterns together), animal prints and butterflies take over from the star pattern of 2008. The placement of the pattern depends on what you want to bring attention to. If you have large hips you will probably not want attention drawn to this area, therefore the pattern should be on the top half in order to draw the eye away from the hips.

* Design trend is heavy embroidery, beadings, large ruffles, sequins, bows and the trendiest of all - fringing. Remember these will add bulk and will draw the eye to that area.

BELTS - Wide belts are the trend especially the Japenese style Obi belt. This belt looks good on long waisted (i.e. a long torso) women but will only emphasise a short torso on a short waisted women. It is best to go against the trend and wear a thin belt or no belt at all.

JEWELLERY - The trend is big, but remember to wear only one large statement piece unless your bone structure is large. If you have angular facial features, choose jewellery with angular details e.g. squares, traingles. If you have softer contoured features, choose circles and ovals for the detail. Also consider your face shape when choosing jewellery.E.g a round face will look good in longer earrings as they will lenghten the face, round earrings will only emphasise the roundness of the face.

TROUSERS - harem pants, jump suits, high waisted and acid washed jeans. Harem pants will emphasise the hips and bottom and so can give a straighter figure the illusion of curves, Jump suits will look good on curvy figures in billowing fabrics, for straighter figures a tauter fabric is best. High waisted trousers and jeans will keep the stomach in. Acid washed jeans are probably only for the younger women.

DRESSES - asymmetrical designs, body con, fringed and metallic grecian goddess gowns. Asymmetrical (single shouldered) dresses are for the angular body with great straight shoulders to show off. Body con dresses - well you either have to have the slim figure for it or a pair of magical undies to hold everything in. Fringed dresses are the trendiest and with the right fringing can hide the stomach.

SHOES - Nude colours, metallics, animal prints and neon colours. High heels will lenghten the legs. Also the same coloured tights (e.g. nude shoes with nude tights) will make the legs appear longer.
